Emotionally Friendly Schools
Lewis Street Primary School recognise that children and adults physical and emotional health and well-being is fundamental and also believe that for them to thrive within our community, their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development should be fostered and supported. Emotional Health and Well Being has a very high profile within our schools.
The School has achieved SILVER Emotionally Friendly Schools Accreditation (EFS) in 2023 after achieving BRONZE in 2019. This is an award led by Salford Local Authority and has very rigorous criteria. For more information please visit www.emotionallyfriendly.co.uk/
We also have clear Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policies.
Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) provides a context for supporting children's wellbeing through teaching and learning.
Our EFS Champions are Sarah Miles, Trudie Ottiwell, Tracey Redgrave and Charlene Skeels. Children, Parents & Carers can approach any of these adults for support at any time.
National Nurturing Schools Programme
Lewis Street Primary School and Christ Church CE Primary School have completed The National Nurturing Schools Programme. We achieved the Nurture UK award in 2020, the first school in Salford to achieve thos award. This programme allows staff to develop and embed a nurturing culture throughout our schools. This enhances teaching and learning and promotes healthy outcomes for children and young people by focusing on emotional needs and development as well as academic learning in a whole-school environment. We applied for The National Nurturing School reaccrediation award in 2024 and aim to complete this in 2024/2025.
Trauma Informed Pilot
Lewis Street Primary School are part of the Trauma Informed working party, alongside CAMHS and Salford Educational Psychology Service. We had training on Right to Play, this has informed our Relationship and Behavioir Policy.
