Keysteps Gymnastics Festival
As a reward for some of our Year 2, 3 and 4 pupils for their effort in PE this year, they were invited to attend a Keysteps Gymnastics Festival at Ordsall Leisure centre which is the home of gymnastics in Salford. They had a go on all of the equipment and learned some of the routine in preparation for the Keysteps Gymnastics Competition next year.
Road To Old Trafford Finals
Our Project Pat Year 3 football team reached the finals of the Road To Old Trafford football tournament which took place at the Aon Training complex. After playing lots of games throughout the day, the lads unfortunately missed out on the semi-finals on goal difference but represented us brilliantly.
Some of our Year 5/6 children represented us in the Salford Quadkids Athletics event at Salford City Academy. They took part in a throwing event, jumping event, 75m sprint and a 600m run! All of the children gave 100% effort and represented us fantastically. Well done everyone!
Year 5 Boys Football Festival
Our Year 5 boys football team entered a festival to play matches to get them ready for the Year 6 football league that they'll be entering in September! They played brilliantly and won both of their games. Their attitude and respect for everybody involved was fantastic. Well done boys!
Girls Kwik Cricket Competition
Some of our Year 5 and 6 girls represented the school in the Salford Kwik Cricket finals and play fantastically! With very little practice they won 3 games and lost 3 games but they had a brilliant attitude throughout and a fantastic time! Well done girls!
Sports Leader Training
The Youth Sport Trust recently attended our school to provide our Year 4's and 5's with Sports Leader training in preparation for next year! As well as our welfare staff and Learning Support Assistants, the children learned a variety of games and activities to ensure that dinnertimes are as fun as possible for everyone!
Children from Year 3, 4 and 5 were selected by their class teachers for their fantastic attitude and effort in PE this year to take part in our Fencing programme with Wayne. The children spent 5 weeks learning the rules, the techniques and self-discipline needed for fencing. They had a fantastic time and received a bronze award so well done everyone!
Four of our Year 4 children trained for weeks to learn how to play and the rules of tennis! They then went to participate in the Eccles cluster tennis festival where they had a fantastic time. They played loads of games and had loads of fun. They are now getting ready for the Salford tennis finals!
Big well done to Aaron and Lily from Year 6 who went along as sports leaders to help out and were brilliant!
Some of our Year 6's represented us in the Salford Golf competition! We had a brilliant time where they learned how to play a completely new sport and showed off their skills fantastically. Well done everyone!
Year 5 Girls Football - Greater Manchester Finals
Our Year 5 girls represented us in the Greater Manchester finals and did brilliantly! After playing (and beating) some of the best teams from Greater Manchester the girls had a great time and did us all very proud!! Well done girls!
Year 6 Girls Football Team
Our Year 6 girls football team beat Lark Hill Primary School 3-0. The girls worked fantastically as a team and showed respect to everybody involved. Well done girls!
Year 5 Girls Football - Salford Finals
After 40 schools entering the cluster competitions, our Year 5 girls made it to the finals held at Mesne Lea Primary School and we are proud to say that we finished 2nd! The girls played fantastically and won silver medals for their efforts!
Road To Old Trafford Tournament
Some of our Year 2 and 3 pupils joined up with Christ Church's Year 2 and 3 pupils to form a Project Pat football team to represent us in the Road To Old Trafford Tournament ran by the Manchester United Foundation. Everybody had lots of fun and our Year 3's won their tournament meaning that they are going to represent us in the finals at Old Trafford! Well done everyone!
Some Key Stage 2 children represented us in the Eccles Cluster Dodgeball competition. They had lots of fun, won lots of games and represented the school fantastically. We finished 3rd overall, Well Done Everyone!

Year 3/4 Rugby Competition
8 of our Year 3/4 children represented us in a Touch Rugby Competition hosted by the Salford Red Devils Foundation. We are proud to say that out of 15 schools represented in the competition, we reached the semi finals where we were VERY unlucky to be defeated after 22 MINUTES of extra time after the match ended in a draw. We then won the 3rd place play off to win the bronze medals! Well Done Everybody!!!
We were represented in the Salford Lacrosse competition and made the semi-finals! On a horrendous rainy day the children showed their skills in a sport that is new to them as well as an outstanding attitude to reach the semi-finals of the competition where they unfortunately lost. Well done everyone!
Cricket and Karate Club
Our Karate and Cricket after school clubs have started and the children are really enjoying them! If your child is interested in attending a club please ask at the office and we may have spaces or a waiting list for your child to join!
Our Year 1 and Year 3 classes have been participating in the daily mile this term as part of a trial to see how effective it would be. We are really happy to say that both classes have really enjoyed taking part in a 15 minute run, 3 times a week (on non PE days) this term. We've found that the classes fitness levels have improved greatly (the class scores on the bleep test have doubled!) and we've found that our children have beenshowing more emotional resilience and determination when taking on challenges, not only when running! Other classes have now started to become interested and our Year 3s even took nursery on one of their runs to show them what it's all about!
Year 2 Intra School Football Festival
To celebrate the football that we've been doing in Year 2 with the Manchester United Foundation, we had a football festival where every child represented a World Cup team and played lots of matches. Our Year 6 Sport Leaders lead this event brilliantly and it was enjoyed by everybody involved!
Year 5 Girls Football Competition
We attended a Year 5 girls football competition today and are very proud to say that we won! We played 8 matches and won all of them. We scored over 20 goals and didn't concede any so the girls played brilliantly! Their attitude was fantastic throughout the whole afternoon and their respect for their opponents and officials was exemplary.
We attended a Keysteps Gymnastics competition on Monday 6th February at Ordshall Leisure Centre. Jack, Justin, Lily and Nour performed a floor routine as well as a vault routine and were fantastic. They are all new to gymnastics and performed brilliantly. Their behaviour and respect for other schools was also brilliant, well done everyone!
We were represented fantastically in the Salford Sportshall Athletics Competition. We took 20 children, 10 boys and 10 girls, who worked brilliantly as a team which meant that we finished in 4th place! We won lots of races and events but the competition was really tough! Well done everyone!
We were represented in Salford Hockey Finals competition on 20/1/17. We played 4 matches where we won 1, drew 2 and lost 1. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to progress to the semi-finals but the children played fantastically and represented the school brilliantly as usual!
Healthy Lifestyles Week
Our Healthy Lifestyles week was a brilliant success. Children made healthy choices at dinner and snack times and we had some fantastics visitors and lessons around Healthy Lifestyles. The highlights of the week were a visit to Key Stage 2 from ex professional footballer Danny Webber and a visit from the Dogs Trust to highlight the importance of mental health!
Weller Hauraki and Josh Wood Visit
We were really lucky to have a visit from 2 professional rugby players to our Multi Sports after school club! Josh Wood and Weller Hauraki from Salford Reds visited our club to answer some questions and join in some dodgeball with our children. Huge Thank You to Salford Reds Foundation for sorting this out for us!
Golf - Driving Range Visit
In preparation for the upcoming Tri-Golf competition in 2017, some of our children were lucky enough to be able to attend Trafford Golf Centre on Friday 9th December for an hour of professional coaching from a PGA professional. The children had loads of fun and the improvements that were made in an hour were fantastic!
LLS Benchball Tournament
Some of our Year 5 students represented us in a Benchball/ Netball tournament on Thursday 8th December ran by LLS who come and do some PE sessions in our school. The children were absolutely brilliant and finished 2nd out of 6 teams in the tournament. The children were playing in a new sport that they hadn't played before and got better as every game went on. Their attitude and effort were phenomenal as usual. Well done everyone!
Year 3 and 4 Girls Futsal
Some of our Year 3 and 4 girls entered a futsal tournament at Trafford Powerleague on Tuesday 6th December and we are proud to say that we won!! The girls played 6 games against some very good teams and we won the tournament when we finished with the same points as Moorside but because we scored the most goals we took home the trophy!! Well done girls!
Beat the Street Winners!
8 of our children had a trip to Eccles Library to collect our prizes for winning the local exercise initiative Beat The Street! We received a trophy and some vouchers for winning the most points score over the whole 8 weeks, and we received a signed GB cycling jersey signed by some cycling superstars for walking the most miles in the final week! BIG well done to everybody involved, children, staff and parents and carers!
We attended a wrestling tournament for Salford Schools at Sharples Wrestling Centre in Bolton. Our children performed brilliantly in a sport where they hadn't had much practice/ preparation time. Their attitude was brilliant and they thoroughly enjoyed trying a new and more physical sport!
Some Year 2 pupils attended Ordsall Leisure Centre's fabulous gymnastics facility to start learning their gymnastics routines in preparation for a competition in February. We were also able to have a go of some of the cool gymnastics equipment they have there!
Some students from our Year 5 and Year 6 classes represented us in a Rugby tournament ran by Salford Red Devils at the AJ Bell Stadium. We played brilliantly in terrible weather and they made us all very proud. We played 6 matches in total, won 3, drew 2 and lost 1! Well done everybody involved!
Quick Sticks Hockey
We were represented in the local Eccles cluster hockey competition and we won!!! We played 4 games, won 3 and drew 1. Not only their play but their attitude and level of respect for everybody was brilliant. Well done everyone!!
Our girls team have had a brilliant start to the year playing in a Salford wide tournament and finishing 3rd. As well as starting in the girls football league for the first time!

Lewis Street 1 - 1 Lark Hill
Our Year 5 football team played in a friendly football match against Lightoaks Primary School after their football tournament was cancelled due to weather! We won 4-2 and played brilliantly! Well done!
Some pupils from our Year 2 class were chosen to represent out school in a dodgeball festival at Clarendon Road primary school. We played lots of matches and won more than our fair share! They learned lots about sportsmanship, respect for opponents and officials and challenged themselves against some really good opponents! Well done everyone involved!
Our Year 2's have been busy learning gymnastics for the first time! Sara from Salford Leisure comes into school especially to do gymnastics with our younger children to aid their movement and co-ordination. All of the children are doing really well!
4 of our children represented the school in a wrestling competition! Their attitutdes and behaviour were impeccable and they all gave 100% at a sport where they have limited experience! They all had a brilliant time and a big well done to Justin in Year 6 who won all of his bouts and recieved a medal for this achievement!
We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the GOLD School Games Kitemark again for 2016!
The School Games Mark is currently available for all School Games registered schools, rewarding them for their performance during the 2015/16 academic year.
We are extremely proud of this achievement as it validates all of the hard-work put in by all of our children, parents and staff! Well Done!
Our new sports clubs have started for this year with lots of children involved! Especially our dance club!
Our sports day was a great success, from old classics such as the egg and spoon race, to throwing javelins, to working as a team to transport water from one bucket to another bucket via an obstacle course, there was lots of fun had by all of the children! The support from parents was also fantastic and it was great for staff and children to see so many parents there supporting our teams! Thanks!

Some of our children had the fantastic opportunity to experience the training schedule of an all round gymnast by being able to use a wide range of equipment provided by Salford Community Leisure. 5 boys and 5 girls represented the school in a competitive athletics tournament and did us extremely proud by finishing second and winning silver! They performed fantastically in the running, jumping and the throwing events and their behaviour was impeccable! Well Done!
After weeks of practicing and hard work, 10 of our children represented the school in a Tri-Golf tournament and won the bronze medal! They displayed great skill as well as a lot of respect for all officials and players. Well done!
5 of our children represented the school brilliantly in a tournament in Bolton. They played fantastically and their level of respect for each other, other teams and officials was outstanding. Well Done!
This term in PE, our classes are doing a mix of familiar sports as well as some children having the opportunity to try out some unique sports that they might not have tried before like fencing and wrestling.

Sport Relief 2016

Some of our children attended Trafford Golf Centre to have an hours golf coaching from a local professional. The children behaved brilliantly throughout and have a wonderful time. Please see the video below and check out some of their swings!
A group of children represented the school in a gymnastics competition. They demonstrated fantastic Gymnastic skills to finish 7th, but they also demonstrated a brilliant attitude and level of respect for themselves and other competitors, well done!

The 11th and 12th of February were our Healthy Lifestyles days! Every class ran a mile, every class created a healthy lunch and we also had "Adults vs Year 6" dodge-ball and football matches! The whole school enjoyed both days and learned a lot about the importance of health and fitness including that it can be VERY fun to be active!
