Alliance For Learning

The Alliance for Learning is a partnership of primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities and organisations from across the North West, who share their knowledge, skills, expertise and experience to achieve a common goal of continuous educational improvement.

As a designated Teaching School we work collaboratively within our school network to provide outstanding initial teacher training, excellent CPD and specialist support.

Teaching Schools are at the heart of a different strategy of school improvement that puts responsibility on the profession and schools. Our Alliance offers a wide range of opportunities for schools to collaborate with other schools and we have a diverse range of partners across the NW.

Our SCITT offers high quality training and aims to overcome any recruitment issues, whilst our wide range of professional development opportunities aim to improve the quality of teaching and learning, improve wellbeing and support leadership development. We also have a large number of system leaders who are available for deployment to support with specific aspects of school improvement and our specialist networks e.g. Maths Hub, Science Learning Partnership, English networks etc.

Place2Be provides emotional and therapeutic services in primary and secondary schools, building children's resilience through talking, creative work and play. Place2Be works with 257 primary and secondary schools, reaching a school population of 105,000 children, helping them to cope with wide-ranging and often complex social issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, family breakdown, neglect and trauma.

Dyslexia Friendly

The philosophy underpinning the Quality Mark is that changing practice to accommodate dyslexic individuals often results in good practice for everyone.

In the case of educational institutions, the British Dyslexia Association recognises that the majority of moderately dyslexic students will be taught in mainstream classrooms and by non-specialist tutors. Therefore it is important that, as well as employing appropriate teaching methods, all environments are dyslexia friendly.

Gold Sports Mark

The School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels of the Mark. In 2015, our school was awarded the Gold kitemark. We are also proud to announce that we have been awarded the Gold Kitemark for 2016!

Elklan

ELKLAN is a speech and language therapy training organisation that writes, delivers and verifies learners on bespoke training courses which support the development of communication in children and young people. We all knew many of our pupils had low speech and language levels but did not have a consistent approach to supporting them. In 2015, the vast majority of our staff received their Elklan certificate.

SFVS

The schools financial value standard (SFVS) is a mandatory requirement for local authority (LA) maintained schools. The SFVS has been designed with schools to help them in managing their finances and to give assurance that they have secure financial management in place. Governing bodies of maintained schools or management committees of pupil referral units (PRUs) have formal responsibility for the financial management of their schools, and so the standard is primarily aimed at governors or management committees.
